Eric grew up in Augusta, GA, and graduated from GA Southern College in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and Spanish. After college, he attended law school at the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.
After graduating from law school in 1987, Eric joined the Office of Legislative Counsel of the State of Georgia where he drafted legislation for the members of the General Assembly of Georgia.
In 1994 Eric went to work for the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia as their staff attorney. In February of 1995 he was named Executive Director of the Council and has held that post since. Eric is the longest serving head of a state agency in this State.
Eric has been a member of our Rotary Club since 1991 and is AWER's club historian. He has been married to Julie Young John for 35 years and has two sons, Lucas, a doctor in Boone, NC, and Brady, a lawyer in Nashville, TN. Julie and Eric live in Marietta, GA.
