CART is a project that began in the RC of Sumter, SC by one Rotarian who lost his mother in law. He wanted to do something that would ensure no one else would lose a loved one in such a cruel manner. The program started with a little blue bucket. Each week Rotarians would drop their pocket change in the blue bucket. More clubs joined and put blue buckets on their tables. The money was collected and presented as a grant to researchers working on curing Alzheimer's Disease.

The researchers are selected by a panel of scientists who volunteer their time to CART. 100% of the money in the little blue buckets goes to funding these grants.
