The purpose of the Emergency Management Agency is to prepare our community for major emergencies and disasters and thereby reduce the loss of life and property. Before a disaster we advise all local agencies of their emergency functions. During the disaster, we oversee the operations of all agencies. Following a disaster we coordinate resources with State and Federal agencies to facilitate recovery. Chuck Ray, GEMA Field Operations Manager, There are eight regional GEMA Areas in the state and each one has an Area Coordinator. All eight Area Coordinators directly report to Chuck. Chuck has solid experience with a wide variety of events in diverse jurisdictions. Thomas County is in Area 2.
