President's Message
Celebrating At A Distance

Easter and passover typically come with large family gatherings and traditional celebrations. Growing up, the Easter Bunny (a.k.a. mom) would always leave my sisters and I a basket of treats outside of our rooms. I am fortunate to have the Easter Bunny living a few doors down and she still drops off treats. I hope you all find ways to connect with family today and are able to keep up some of your traditions from a distance.

Virtual Hump Day

Last week we had fun catching up with our Rotary friends via zoom, so why not do it again! I hope you can join us.

Bill & Patsy Wolff
Continue To Support Our Neighbors

Over the last week, Bill and Patsy Wolff have assisted an additional 4 families with rent and utilities money and paid a past due bill for Internet service so RHS students could take advantage of the free service offered by the telecom providers. Each of these families has been directly impacted by COVID-19. For example, one high school student was not able to do the assigned schoolwork, which was very unusual for this student. Upon investigation by the school, this student was working 40 or more hours per week to support her family of nine, because both parents had been laid off due to COVID-19 and she was the only one with a job. They could not pay their rent or utilities. Bill stepped in to relieve some of the financial burden for this family and this student is catching up with schoolwork during Spring Break and will be able to do her schoolwork for the rest of the semester. These are not people who want a hand-out, but they do need a hand-up. Their gratitude has been truly overwhelming. Bill and Patsy’s generosity is truly Service Above Self.

These stories in Roswell continue to bubble up to us and while Roswell Rotary cannot provide funds directly to families, Roswell Rotarians can. The needs can range from $100 to a few thousand dollars. Becky Stone & Alicia Hughes are happy to connect Roswell Rotarians with a heart to help these Roswell families. Please contact either of them if you would like to follow the Wolff's lead and serve the community in this way.

Volunteer To Support Healthcare
Be 1 In A Million

Rotary clubs and districts from around the country have joined forces with the Yale School of Public Health to help train 1 million healthcare volunteers. The volunteers will provide Telehealth support from home or in person support after completing a comprehensive online training program. If you are interested in volunteering you can learn more on the Global Impact Group's website.

Project Continues
Supporting Deployed Troops

Our project to provide goodie boxes to troops deployed in harms way continues to bring a little bit of home to those who are putting their lives on the line to protect our way of life. In a way this project was built for COVID-19 as each box can be ordered and shipped online. If you are interested in providing some extra boxes please contact Ed Vaught.

Heroes Work Here
Thanking Our Health Care Workers

A group of anonymous Roswell Rotarians paid for this sign to go up outside of Wellstar North Fulton so their employees would know our community appreciates them. As a club we would like to buy them all a meal for a total of 400 meals across 2 shifts. Please consider making a contribution to help us buy our health care works a meal as a way to show our thanks.

An Update From Drake House

The Drake House is adjusting well to life in quarantine. They have allowed families scheduled to transition out the option to stay in place and they have developed virtual screening so they can continue to intake those in need. Most of the moms are able to work remotely and they have leveraged technology to continue their programming. The families can walk to Kroger for groceries, order non-perishables online and get meals delivered. Several of our members have provided The Drake House with Kroger gift cards. If you are interested in helping The Drake House reach out to Lisa Carlisle.

New Member Takes Action
Making Gowns For First Responders

New member Judy Van Heiningen has turned Face Logic Spa into a gown making factory and delivered this essential PPE to Central EMS for our local first responders. If you would like to help, they have a Go Fund Me Page and the have a DIY No-Sew Kit with a how-to video on YouTube.
