Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs meets most Mondays at the Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Suites at 12:15 PM. The lunch program includes club business and also hosts guest speakers - business professionals, elected officials, non-profit leaders and others from the Sandy Springs area.

We’re always looking for ways to make an impact in the community; our club members are actively engaged with senior and youth programs that support leadership development and student scholarship. While our motto and most important feature of Rotary International is “Service Above Self,” we also work together in fellowship as we enjoy great camaraderie. January 9, 2017 - Michael Chriszt, Vice President and Public Affairs Officer. Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

On Monday, January 9, 2017, Michael Chriszt will speak to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs.

From the Federal Reserve website, here is some biographical information about Michael Chriszt:

"Michael Chriszt is a vice president and public affairs officer in the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Public Affairs department. In this role, he is responsible for the Bank's communications, which include media relations, publications, websites, conferences, and outreach activities such as speeches, economic education, and corporate citizenship. He also oversees the Bank's internal communications and the Knowledge and Information Management function.

Prior to assuming his current responsibilities, Chriszt was a vice president in the Research department. There, he was responsible for the Regional Economic Information Network and the Center for Real Estate Analytics. From 2008 to 2010, Chriszt served as assistant vice president in the Research department. He was director of international and regional analysis from 2004 to 2008. In these roles, he oversaw the analysis of economic conditions in the Sixth Federal Reserve District and of international economic developments. Chriszt joined the Bank in 1989 as a public information specialist and moved to the research department in 1990.

While at Miami University in Ohio, Chriszt earned two bachelor's degrees, one in history and one in diplomacy and foreign affairs. He also earned a master's degree there in political science with emphases on international economics and comparative politics. Chriszt received a certificate of study of the European Union and is a graduate of executive education programs at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

Chriszt is a member of the National Association of Business Economists and the Atlanta Economics Club, where he serves as the group's vice president. He also serves on the board of the Georgia Council on Economic Education and the United Way of Cobb County Advisory Board."

END HUMAN TRAFFICKING FILM "8 Days" Screening
January 12, 2017 Free Screening at North Springs High School (Sandy Springs) 6:30-9:30 p.m. with Law Enforcement Panel Discussion

On January 12, 2017, a screening of the film “8 Days” followed by a law enforcement panel discussion about human trafficking will take place at North Springs Charter High School (7447 Roswell Road, N.E., Atlanta GA 30328 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Seating is limited and the film contains adult content. Reservations are needed at www.brookhavenrotary.org The event is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Brookhaven, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, the Rotary Club of North Atlanta and the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs. Parents and community members are especially encouraged to attend. There is no charge for the event. The panel discussion which follows will include the police chiefs of the cities of Dunwoody, Brookhaven and Sandy Springs.

A number of Paul Harris Fellows were given out during the Monday, December 19, 2016, meeting of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs. Joined by PDG Bob Hagan, PDG Ralph Thurmond awarded pins to Candace Apple, John Neill, Jim Paschal, Kelly Fredrickson and Lisa Stueve.

Fran Farias announced that she and Phil Farias will be part of the Exchange to India this spring, along with Bob Hagan, Upendra Bhatt, and Bill Barney. There may be additional spaces available on the team, so contact Fran Farias if you would like to be considered to go.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs has a long-term relationship with Leadership Sandy Springs, going back to the founding of the nonprofit leadership program. Many members of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs have graduated from the Leadership Sandy Springs program. The "Live Learn Lead" series of speakers brings exciting and nationally renowned speakers to an evening event to help the Sandy Springs community develop, educate and connect.
