Team Mechanics is Your Foundation to Winning!

By Court Dowis

Without a foundation we cannot do or build anything in life. Think about how important it is to build a foundation for your education, your family, your ethics, your career. This month, we celebrated one of the clubs at the foundation of our district - as the Rotary Club of Americus celebrated its 100th anniversary. As I visited many of our clubs, I saw the enthusiasm and service that is at core of Rotary. And, I participated in two very special events where we celebrated and recommitted ourselves to the fight against Plus, a late September Polio Symposium sponsored by the E-Rotary Club of Emory-Clifton, and a World Polio Day event at the CDC.

District Conference 2019

We'll Have Fun and You Should Come! Registration Now Open!

By Bill Woulfin

All year, DG Court has been strong in his opinion that if you "Have Fun They Will Come!" That's exactly what we're planning for the 2019 District Conference so plan to come to Sandestin, Florida from April 25-28 for the 2019 District 6900 Conference. Even Smokey and the Bandit will be there!

Why attend? President Elect Kim Walden, RC of Thomasville: "District conference has been one of my favorite Rotary events because I always experience a life changing moment. It may come from one of the amazing speakers they always have or from having time to truly fellowship with so many Rotarians. Or it may happen during the service project, but there always is that awe inspiring moment where you feel our Service Above Self and are so glad to be part of it. And, that all happens at a beautiful venue with so much to explore which always makes for a great trip. I encourage you to attend - and promise you - you really will be so glad you did! See you there!!!"

Registration is now open! [more]

The Rotary Foundation

Thankful for How TRF Helps Us Make a Difference

By Margie Kersey

This is the one month a year that we really focus on The Rotary Foundation – and it is appropriate since November is also host to Thanksgiving. And frankly, I give thanks for The Rotary Foundation because of the way it allows Rotarians to make such a big difference in the world. Sometimes it is easy to become jaded and focus on the negatives in this world. How awesome is it that we can look at those negatives and say “I can do something about that!” [more]

Life After GRSP - Making a Difference in Uganda

By Lynn Clarke

I thought I'd write to give you an update on how my trip to Uganda went this summer as I know how you like hearing from old GRSP students.

I went to Uganda with the charity Little Big Africa. We arrived in Entebbe on the 10th June and we spent the first week training for what was ahead near a town called Mikono. During training we learned some Luganda- the local dialect, how to build the stoves, key information about the communities and teaching skills. Training was a lot of fun and me and my group (Student Volunteers Abroad) got to meet the other two groups that were there- one from Strathclyde University (also in Glasgow) and one from Bristol University (in England). We then all set off for our separate villages. [more]

Peachtree City Directory Has a Legacy of Service

By Michael Nelson

October 13 was a lucky day for the Rotary Club of Peachtree City and the local community, when the club published the 45th edition of its Rotary Smart Directory. The directory was first published as a community service project for Peachtree City. Over time, ads were sold to cover the cost of production and printing. By the 1990’s the directory had become the primary fundraising project for the club and has produced over a million dollars that has funded countless projects, both locally and globally. [more]
