This Week's Program
Tim Filston-Happy Valentine's Day from Mars

“Britain and America are two nations divided by a common language,” quipped George Bernard Shaw.

Some days, the same thing could be said of men and women. We’ve all heard men are from
Mars and women are from Venus. What rules of the road can help keep us out of the ditches in
communication? What principles help clear up some of the chronic issues and conflicts that arise
because of our different wiring? How can we learn to enjoy the differences more along the way? Join us
next Thursday as we consider how to connect between two worlds.

Tim Filston is husband to Beth, father of triplets + 1, and Senior Pastor, of First Presbyterian Church, Thomasville. He grew up in North Carolina and has degrees from several places, including Furman University where he met his Valentine of 23 years. They have served churches in Houston, Orlando, and Chattanooga. The potential of one changed life continues to motivate them through the joys and difficulties of ministry. People have spotted him on the road riding on a couple of skinny tires, wetting a line in a Smoky Mountain river, or altering the landscape of an unsuspecting golf course. Tim blogs at faithanddoubt.com where he helps people respond well to life’s questions and challenges.

ABC's of Rotary

The Secretariat

Many Rotarians consider the Secretariat simply another name for the RI World Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, U.S.A. Actually, it is much more. While it does include the World Headquarters, the Secretariat encompasses nearly 500 individuals working to make Rotary International run smoothly and effectively. The term describes the entire operations of the general secretary and his staff. The Secretariat also includes eight Rotary Service Centres (formerly called Branch Offices) around the world, all of the staff serving in those centres, as well as all staff assigned to The Rotary Foundation. Its sole purpose is to serve the clubs, districts and administrative officers of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. RI World Headquarters, in a building called One Rotary Centre in Evanston, is the headquarters of the Secretariat.
