Atlanta Dream Center

The Out of Darkness safe home is the beneficiary of the 2019 District Competitive Grant secured by the Rotary Club of Brookhaven.

There are two available work days on which Rotarians can help with get this safe home ready: September 14 and September 28. I am including links to both work dates below, along with some of the information from one of those pages for those who would like a summary of the goals, work to be done, etc.

September 14 Work Day Link

September 28 Work Day Link

From the Atlanta Dream Center's Out of Darkness project:

We need your help! Come join us for a Work Day at our new safe home property in DeKalb County! We will be tackling a number of projects both inside and outside. You do not need to be a skilled professional, just a willing heart and some elbow grease. With your help, we will be able to open the safe home quickly and double our bed capacity to serve women with safety, love and trauma-informed care!

Lunch and Water will be provided.

Please feel free to come even if you're not able to stay for the whole day.

**Due to the nature of the safe home program, Confidentiality Forms will be required. If you have not previously done so, you can fill them out through this link https://signnow.com/s/55DGXHbm The address will be shared with attendees once completed.

Rotary Means Business

Mission Statement

Rotary Means Business encourages Rotarians to support the success of their fellow Rotarians by doing business with them, and by referring others to them.

Today Rotarians are embracing the original foundations of what the Rotary Club was based on as we adhere to the Four Way Test. The RMB Fellowship provides an opportunity for all Rotarians to network on a global basis to enhance their businesses.

We encourage any active Rotarian in good standing who is interested in doing business with other Rotarians to join the Rotary Means Business Fellowship.

We are having our next RMB meeting at our new date and location - Tuesday, 9/17, Hudson Grille, Brookhaven, 6:30pm-8pm (map link)

First Woodward Reading Day - September 25

Send Bryan Katz an email to participate in our Club's first reading day at Woodward Elementary School (map here).

We are once again partnering with the Ferst Foundation to send each of Woodward's approximately 150 PreK and Kindergarten students home with a book in his or her hands several times per school year.

As part of that project, we also need each Rotarian in the Club to visit Woodward and read to children on one of our Club's scheduled days during the year.

Many members have identified this as one of the most rewarding projects in which they have participated.

Per Service Chair Bryan, "We'll start around 7:45am and should end by 8:30. There are 2 Pre-K classes and 5 Kindergarten classes so it would be great if we can have 7 volunteers."

Don't Miss the FIELD TRIP!

Brookhaven Rotarians, don't miss our September 25 meeting!

We will meet at Terra Terroir on Wednesday, September 25. There is no cost to attend and have lunch, but YOU MUST RSVP in order to attend the meeting.

Use this link to RSVP https://brookhavenrotary.org/v2/event/4538

Our speaker on the 25th will be Ms. Amy Patterson. As Senior Vice President of Operations for the Championship Hosting Division of the Atlanta Sports Council, Ms. Patterson oversaw all operational aspects of the 2018 College Football Championship and the 2019 Super Bowl LIII. Now she is preparing for the 2020 NCAA® Final Four.
