East Cobb Rotary's Dog Days Run is our club's primary fundraiser held the second Saturday in August for ten consecutive years. This 5K road race bonds club members for a day of fun, fellowship and fundraising. This highly visible August 8th event drew hundreds of participants, building awareness in the community of the Rotary brand.
Highlights include: Achieved a new high of $78,370 in sponsorship dollars from 123 sponsors plus 10 sponsors in kind (representing $2,425) - 100% of club members participated in all aspects of the race - Over 750 volunteer hours contributed - Well-publicized (Marietta Daily Journal, East Cobb Neighbor, East Cobber magazine, street banner, yard signs everywhere in East Cobb) - High school cross country teams participating free of charge - Spectator friendly for families, runners, visitors and dogs - "Rotary Information Station" in the sponsor display area - 7 spouses and 10 children of club members plus a dozen Boy Scouts as volunteers - Huge return for a race operation cost of only $17,312
Most of the funds raised are directly invested into charitable causes close to the heart of the club and are presented at the annual "Dog Days Gives Back Breakfast" which was held this year on January 27, 2016. Twenty-one (21) fund recipients plus the platinum, gold and silver sponsors of the Dog Days Run were in attendance. Energy filled the room as proceeds were given to charities impacting the East Cobb community; a definite celebration of Service Above Self in full operation.
This money stays here where it can make a difference
