Alpharetta Rotary Supports Alpharetta Day of Service;
Care packages shipped to support our men and women in uniform
The most recent Alpharetta Day of Service was another great opportunity for our community to give back and get involved in our city. The Alpharetta Rotary again stepped up to the call, participating in the numerous service projects within our community.
There was one project that took place within the community, however the results of this effort reached far beyond the city limits of Alpharetta. This project was to assemble and ship “care packages” to our troops overseas. Rotarians joined with community members to collect items such as toothpaste, tooth brushes, nuts, candy, and other snacks.
Our troops welcome packages such as these, because such common items that we pass by every day can be very hard to come by when deployed on a military mission. These items were sent to 2 different combat units, including elements of the 75th Ranger Regiment based at Fort Benning, GA. President Jason Binder said, “It is an honor and privilege to support the men and women of our military. Our club has a proud military heritage and is always there for our service personnel.”
