Back to School Supplies Program with North Fulton Rotaract

ALPHARETTA ROTARY and NORTH FULTON ROTARACT DONATES BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO NORTH FULTON COMMUNITY CHARITIES

The Alpharetta Rotary Club, in partnership with the North Fulton Rotaract Club, raised $1750 to buy backpacks and supplies for children served by North Fulton Community Charities. Members of both Clubs, along with their family and friends, gathered to stuff 65 backpacks with a variety of school supplies on July 28, 2016 at Abbey of the Holy Goats. Alpharetta Rotarian, Karen Hipes, and North Fulton Rotaractor, Tori Alterman, were the co-organizers for the Backpack Project.

Tori Alderman is the President of the North Fulton Rotaract Club and her full time job is being a nurse at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta in the pediatric ICU. “Having the backpacks ready to go to the children before school starts is very important so that the children start their first day with a new backpack filled with supplies. This is just a beginning of starting a path of success for the children.”, said Tori Alterman.

The backpacks were stuffed with markers, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, pencil pouches, notebooks, wide ruled paper, colored pencils, index cards, highlighters, and calculators. Jason Binder, President of Alpharetta Rotary said, “It is so humbling to be a part of filling these backpacks so that children have the items they need to start school. We care about the community and are always finding ways to serve others so that we are contributing to individuals building better lives for themselves and their families.”
