Bocce Ball

An annual Special Olympics Bocce Ball Tournament is held in Camilla, GA. It is hosted by the Mitchell County Service Center for athletes in Camilla, Albany, and Cairo, over 125 athletes, coaches, and supporters from across the region attended the 12th Camilla Bocce Invitational.

The Camilla Rotary Blub has been the primary sponsor of the event for each of the twelve years it's been held. Club members provided lunch for the athletes as well as assisted with all aspects of the event. The First Baptist Church of Camilla provided water for the athletes. Westwood Schools provided the facilities for the event. The students from Westwood's National Honor Society served as officials.

Each athlete received a trophy, a T-shirt, and play BINGO for prizes. The Special Olympic coordinator for the event Shari Hogan, sttaes that 'the Rotary Blub is a huge help. Without their support throughout the years, this event would not be possible."

This is one of the best service projects for the Camilla Rotary Club and it is a great event for athletes, the students that help, as well as for the community in Camilla.
