9/11 Tribute Program

Purpose: To remember victims of the worst terrorist attack in American history.

Objectives: Coordinate with the City of Roswell, Roswell Recreation and Parks Department, and Roswell's Emergency Medical Service personnel to demonstrate Rotary's commitment to this event and this community service.

The Program: The 9/11 Tribute Program was done on a Sunday this year at the Mike Gann Lake in Roswell Area Park. A Committee of 23 meet monthly until 2 months before the event then committee meets weekly.

This year's ceremony could not have been better. Great weather, folks came by after church and the lake was lined with an estimated 500 Roswell citizens that want to remember the sacrifices by our first responders and pass to the next generation the impact that this event had on our country.

A blend of solemn remembrances, prayers and patriotic music punctuated this time of reflection with a backdrop of a giant American flag hanging from fire truck ladders and a mournful closing of taps; played by our own Alan Christian on trumpet.

May we never forget.
