Dictionaries, Library Books and Resources for schools

As one of several North Atlanta Rotary's Literacy initiatives, each year we provide dictionaries through the Dictionary Project to all third grade students at Cary Reynolds and HighTower Elementary schools. This year we delivered over 400 dictionaries, a mixture of English, Spanish-English and Chinese-English to third grade students at both schools.

We also donated $500 to the Cary Reynold Elementary School Library/Media Center for support of their literacy programs run throughout the school year. The Media Center offers incentive prizes for various accomplishments targeted through contests each month. These funds went to support the prizes and awards given to the students for their participation and achievements.

In addition, we ask the speakers at our club meetings to autograph and personalize with a inspirational message, a hardcover children's book for the Cary Reynolds library/media center. The whole student body (1058 students) and teachers of Cary Reynolds Elementary benefit from these resources given to the school library.

As a part of our Public Image campaign we insert a "plate" in the front of each dictionary and library book with the Four-Way test and our club name. We are a partner in Education with Cary Reynolds Elementary School.
