SWEET LAND OF LIBERTY- Children's 4th of July Parade

The Sweet Land of Liberty Parade has been a LaGrange tradition for 33 years. Its origin is the brainchild of the late wife of Rotarian Jim Boyd who felt the city needed a festive celebration of the birth of our Great Nation. It is established as a children’s parade to express American Patriotism and to celebrate America. This year LaGrange Rotarians had to march without Jim, Jim had passed away a month before this annual event.

LaGrange Rotarians and Interact members along with their family members participate as parade marshals to assist the children along the parade route. This outpouring of enthusiasm by the entire city exemplifies “Leadership by Example” and a great time is enjoyed by all.

This is a "Family of Rotary Event" for besides our volunteers many of our Rotarians are actually marching as participants with their families or are in the crowd cheering the children on, we did not count these individuals in our volunteer totals.
