Dragon Boat Races

Our club introduced Dragon Boat racing to our community in 2007. Since then, on the last week in September every year 4 to 5 thousand residents, paddlers, and vendors gather at the lake to enjoy the excitement. Every year this race has grown and is now one of the yearly premier events in Peachtree City.

We run the race, including marketing to get teams to participate, training the teams, getting permitting, securing sponsors, setting up the venue, providing the boats, running the race itself, and overseeing all venue logistics.

The Peachtree City Convention and Visitors Bureau sponsors the “International Festival” part of our event. Vendors are invited to display their international fair including food, entertainment, and exotic merchandise. All during the day entertainers preform on stage with emphasis on our “International” theme. The children of visitors are treated to a special play area at the event as well.

For the third year in a row, the club selected The Breast Cancer Survivors Network, a local Peachtree City 501(c)(3) charity to receive the profits from our race. Breast cancer survivors have been involved in the sport of Dragon Boating nationally, and so it is a great fit. The ladies in pink energize our race every year. This year was no exception, the ladies and their supporters decked out in some unbelievable outfits, turned out in mass. Sponsors and advertisers were quick to rally behind our efforts allowing us to donate $19,000.00 (our net profit).
