Kilifi Kids International Assistance

The Rotary Club of Alpharetta is excited to work with the Rotary Club of Vinings to participate in this year's Kilifi Grant Global Grant. Alpharetta Rotary was able to contribute $6,250 to the grant which would equate to an impact of $25,000 after District and Rotary Foundation matching. 100% of the Alpharetta Rotary Membership contributed to this initiative.

Project Goals

Reducing the mortality and morbidity rate for mothers and children under the age of five. Improve the access to essential medical services, trained community health leaders and health care providers for mothers and their children. 5000 Mothers and Children will receive medical care because of this program.

Project Scope

Through this grant, our objective is to strengthen maternal, child, and newborn health infrastructure within Kenya by expanding the use of a tested SMS tool called mHealth with the existing community health volunteer networks (approximately 100-500 volunteers).

mHealth presents an additional platform for addressing antenatal care (ANC) and family planning, as well as tracking childhood immunizations. Research indicates that mobile technology is an effective tool that empowers pregnant women, families, and healthcare providers. Studies show that leveraging mHealth can be an efficient strategy to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health.
