“We should not live for ourselves alone, but for the joy in doing good for others.”
– Arch Klumph, founder of The Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Club of Alpharetta is celebrating 100 years of the Rotary Foundation Doing Good in the World. Members have organized the first annual Paul Harris Fellow Oyster Roast and Low Country Boil to celebrate the Rotary Foundation Centennial and the Alpharetta Rotary's second anniversary of becoming a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club.
Our Foundation Committee felt that the centennial was the perfect time to share the Foundation's work with our spouses and loved ones. All Paul Harris Fellows (90% of the Club) were welcomed to join the festivities for $26.50 per a person (in honor of the very first contribution by the Rotary Club of Kansas City, Missouri). First Time Paul Harris, current Paul Harris Society or Members who donated $1,000 or more to the Foundation during the past 12 months were all welcomed as a guests of honor.
The Festivities were enjoyed by both Rotarians and spouses. Additionally, District Governor Raymond Ray, PDG Bob Hagan, DGE Alec Smyth and DGN Court Dowis all enjoyed the hospitality and fellowship of the Club.
The Foundation also benefited from the evening. The Club raised $31,451 from July through November for the Annual Fund and positioned us for a record-breaking year to celebrate the Rotary Foundation Centennial!
