The Rotary Club of Alpharetta is proud to announce that it has selected local high school student, Kate Rojales to receive the prestigious Rotary Youth Exchange Scholarship to study abroad. The scholarship is valued at over $24,000.00 and covers room, board, tuition and a monthly stipend for one academic year. The scholarship is awarded for the 2017-2018 academic year by the Rotary Club of Alpharetta.
In August of 2017, Kate will begin her role as a global ambassador when she departs for her year-long exchange in Mexico. Between now and her departure, she will be involved with extensive language and cultural training and preparation to be immersed in her new culture.
Annually, nearly 9,000 high school students between the ages of 14 and 18 years old participate in this program world-wide. The program began in the 1920s and its primary mission is to work towards peace and understanding in the world.
Currently, Rotary Youth Exchange in Florida and Georgia has exchange agreements with over 35 countries and has an annual exchange ratio of 1:1 resulting in over 160 total students participating each year.
Alpharetta Rotary is seeking potential host families in Greater Atlanta for the 2017-2018 academic year. The host family is responsible for providing room and board for the inbound exchange student for approximately three months. Host families are a vital part of the cultural exchange program.
