The Rotary Club of East Cobb continues its involvement as a member of the "Friends of East Cobb Park." Our club has been present since inception of this passive park without sports team activities, and for preserving green space in a highly developed residential and commercial area of East Cobb County. The club and individual members contributed significantly to create the park, and over the years have continued to provide support in multiple ways.
For the seventh consecutive year our club served as a sponsor for the East Cobb Park annual Holiday Lights ceremony, this year on December 11, 2016. Sponsorship includes the opportunity for the club President to stand before the audience, tell about the good works of Rotary in the community and around the world, and extend an invitation to visit a club meeting.
Twenty-two club members (33%) participated in setting up our club tent with Rotary logo along with preparing and selling cookies, hot spiced cider and hot chocolate to the gathered crowd of around 250, reduced from its usual size due to inclement weather and rescheduling. Rotary promotional literature and signage were prominent at our refreshment tent, and we raised $250.00 for benefit of the park
East Cobb Park Holiday Lights also afforded club members opportunity to interact with Cobb County Commissioners, Cobb County Police and Fire officials, and other community leaders.
