The Lionheart Vocation program helps students transition from school to employment which is a critical issue for families with children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
Lionheart WORKS is designed for students who are transitioning from school to a work environment. The overarching goal of the WORKS program is to meet the needs of individuals who have the desire and abilities to begin training for work environments. WORKS partners are selected based on need, affinities and abilities of participants.
Life, job, and social skills training appropriate for work settings are part of the WORKS program. Individual and group job skills training is done both on the Lionheart campus and at specific worksites. Offsite work settings are selected based on affinities, abilities and work readiness for each participant. Occasionally, participants work in a small group to explore options and train together. Job coaches are assigned to each participant as they get ready for a more formal job setting.
Rotarian Involvement
Alpharetta Rotarians are already engaged in volunteering at Lionheart Gardens, and have been invited to volunteer with other projects. Jack Hausmann serves as a substitute job coach, and recently joined our Lionheart WORKS advisory board. Wayne Robinson is applying to serve as a job coach. Rotary also takes part in Grilling & Gridiron, a Lionheart community event. Lionheart tries to use Alpharetta Rotarians when we have a professional need. Lionheart is committed to a community partnership with Alpharetta Rotary, and supports Mary Ulich’s membership in the club.
