Based on a rapid rise in heroin overdose deaths in North Fulton, as well as an increase in addiction, the Alpharetta Rotary Club will utilize and mobilize strategic partners to help combat the addiction crisis within the community and created a Rotary Community Corp named Communities Addressing Addiction (CAA) in February 2017.
CAA, Georgia will take action against addiction by providing access to resources in the community through awareness, education and intervention for individuals and families through a variety of platforms in and throughout North Fulton. The group has been actively involved in several events this year. The Community Event was to address drug addiction in families, provide resources for help and share success stories about recovery. This Spring, we will host another event to show how Narcan can save lives from overdose.
The Rotary Club of Alpharetta will provide ongoing guidance and financial support to the group. The Club has also provided volunteers and help marketing the different awareness events throughout the year.
Programs will also be implemented in high schools with the help of our Interact program. We intend to use this model and launch throughout the state and country using local Rotary Clubs to leverage their already established presence and structure.
