Distracted Driving Program

Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving. Particularly in the teen community the temptation to texting and phone calls while driving is an ever present danger. In working with the Public Safety Foundation and Police Officers, Alpharetta Rotary helped purchase a specialized golf cart that would give teens a first-hand understanding of the dangers of distracted driving.

Police Officers are now taken these karts to area schools. We have all our interact clubs participating in the events to raise awareness in a safe way. This Spring has Milton, Alpharetta and Independence High School scheduled for a demonstration.

Alpharetta Rotary is grateful for the participation in this initiative with our Police Officers. Without question, the campaign is successful in raising awareness about Distracted Driving to our high schools and in our community.

Partner Involvement
The karts were purchased in partnership with the Alpharetta Public Safety Association, Alpharetta Rotary and North Fulton Bar Association members. The Public Safety Department own and use it during events in the Community and local High Schools.
