For years, Roswell Rotary has steadily grown the balance in our Foundation account. This is the charity arm of the club and it funds most of our support for local charities.
Our big golf tournament is the biggest source of income to the Roswell Rotary Foundation. But over the years, that has been augmented by many donations and bequests by members.
This year, we implemented a true endowment model whereby 15% of the proceeds of the golf tournament are deposited to our long term Foundation investment account and 4% of the corpus is drawn back out of that account to fund charitable activities of the club.
The exciting part of this work is that we can now forecast a day, in less than 10 years, when the amount coming out of the endowment and back to the club will exceed the amount going down. And in 20 to 30 years, we will have a revenue source that will allow us to more than double the level of support we provide to our charitable efforts.
This is a long range vision of Roswell Rotary and we are proud to have it fully implemented in President Jeff's year.
Obviously, this could touch thousands of lives as the endowment grows. But to date, there is over half a million that is growing into a solid foundation for in-perpetuity giving.
