In May 2017, the Rotary Club of Peachtree City will sponsor the Annual Awards Celebration for the Wellspring Living Girls residing in the 12 - 17 year old home . Below is a description of the education model and process as explained on Wellspring Living's Website.
Wellspring Living has also learned that educational success is an important key to removing barriers for survivors to have a healthy lifestyle. Wellspring Living Girls’ Program has become a certified Georgia Residential Treatment School under the jurisdiction of Fulton County School. Because vulnerable girls do not respond to traditional education, Wellspring Living provides a hybrid learning style that is an interactive, hands-on, memorable learning environment. Because these girls have a history of truancy, an environment that allows them to catch up enables them to self-motivate their own learning. A self-directed, strength-based program of differentiated instruction has proven to be successful. Academic services will include a personalized curriculum developed for each girl. Fulton Virtual, an online, accredited curriculum through Fulton County Schools provides competency based, personalized learning options for girls. This model closes academic gaps, empowers her to be successful educationally, and encourages her toward appropriate career opportunities.
The Award Ceremony will recognize the girls for their achievements in this hybrid learning environment. Teachers and Life Coaches will celebrate the occasion with the girls. The event will include an invitation to the girls' family members and others on her safe visitors list. Amy Matusek, the EHT Chair for PTC, will represent the RC of PTC at the private event.
