The Rotary Club of Carrollton has partnered with YouScience, an online aptitude evaluation and workforce planning firm, and six area high schools to administer evaluations for all area 10th graders.
The testing allows for better guidance from school counselors and allows students to have better self-awareness, career decision-making, self-empowerment, career exploration and intent to persist, thus reducing dropout rates in high school and beyond. The program also has demonstrated proven student engagement and benefit across geography, race, gender and socio-economic parameters. Students can also retain accessibility to their test results for up to 10 years to reference during secondary and post-secondary education or as they pursue careers.
Our volunteers helped students identify work areas that they may be interested after high school. The students took a survey/test showing their interests and abilities. Our club paid for this testing last year, and we brought our experiences in business to help the students understand how their education will allow them to succeed in the workforce
