This project has never been done in Carroll county. The Department of Family and Children's Services manages the foster child program in Carroll County. There is a small playground at the facility that is geared towards children less than 10 years old. This new playground will be geared towards small children to teenagers. There are currently 226 Foster children in Carroll county. They age from babies to teenagers. This play ground is about 30 feet by 20 feet in area.
Our club raised $65,000 to provide partial funds for this playground. The club contributed $13,300 to purchase the playground. Additionally, the club members will provide the labor and materials to help construct the playground. These materials include drills, ladders, concrete, posts, swings, etc.
As of March 8th, the playground was not built because the steel and plastic was not delivered. Additionally, our weekends have been wet.
On Friday, March 22 and March 23, the DFCS Foster Child playground was completed.
The project resulted from a collaboration of the Carroll County government, Rotarians, Newly formed Interact Club from Central High School and contributions from the community through fundraisers and materials.
