This project was devised from a desire to streamline the weekly process of taking attendance for our club meetings. Being a larger Rotary club does make it difficult to take accurate attendance each week. Since attendance is importance for both the individual member and the club, accurate record keeping is essential. Enter the dynamic tech team, our own Rotarians Rod and Karin Thompson.
Create computer program that enables attendance records for those present to be completed electronically, easily and within minutes. System to enable scanning of barcode that was applied with a label to the badge, recording the scan, associating it with the Rotary assigned barcode, recording that barcode in a file to be used to upload for attendance, enabling entries to be made manually, and displaying a list of names and count of those present. The system is to work off-line with an on-board database of members’ badge numbers and bar codes with ability to easily upload to the DACdb. Build other information into this on-board database, which may in the future allow for reports detailing birthdays, wedding anniversaries and club anniversaries. While a similar system exists from the District, this one is to give the user complete control over the record and upload processes as well as the ability to review and edit data before processing.
Our members are all benefiting from this new program and it may be ready in the future to offer to other Rotary clubs.
