City of Alpharetta Rucker Farm - Service/Renovation

Project Occured 6 times during 2023-2024 -The Old Rucker Farm is the home base of the city’s community agriculture program which was developed in 2018 with collaboration and guidance from numerous residents and community organizations. It includes an organically-grown vegetable, fruit, and herb garden, a native pollinator garden, community garden plots, and an outdoor classroom, located within Old Rucker Park. The community agriculture program will evolve over time, striving to best serve and meet the needs of the entire community.

At various times during the year, several Alpharetta Rotarians volunteer at Old Rucker Farm to weed, plow, plant and maintain the community garden.  During the 2023/2024 rotary year, a total of 300 hours of service were performed at Old Rucker Farm by Alpharetta Rotary.  The hours and volunteers listed are the sum total of the service days for the year.

In addition to service days tending the fields, Alpharetta Rotary is renovating the farmhouse that is used for teaching and growing the seedlings that are used to plant on the farm.  The farmhouse is used for many ecological projects for the city.  The farmhouse renovation is needed to provide a suitable environment for those teaching and organizational events.

Alpharetta Rotarians contribute construction expertise and general labor to this project.
