World Polio Day Event Oyster Roast

The Alpharetta Rotary Club continued our traditional Oyster Roast Polio Awareness event for the 11th year. This is a major club fellowship/fundraising event and a favorite of our Rotarians. Prior to the event we adopted the Red Alpharetta Rotary apron to help raise awareness for the battle to end Polio around the globe. The apron continues to be available for sale, and the proceeds go to Polio. Members have worn the apron at all the Alpharetta Service Heros Rotary Feeds events at Fire Stations, Police Stations, ARNG Armories and VFW. Another opportunity to raise awareness of our fight against Polio. The Oyster Roast held on October 4th was an enormous success with over 54 Rotarians and Friends coming together for a “Good Day of Shucking for Polio” The event raised $2,476.00. In addition, the Club contributed $10,000.00 and the Polio Polar Bear Plunge Team continued the focus on the fight against Polio and raised over $400.00. We as a Club are committed to seeing Rotary’s number one focus to eradicate Polio is a success.
