Each year RCNA makes sure to actively participate in the Dekalb Council of Rotary Clubs which meets monthly at the Petite Auberge Restaurant. It provides an opportunity to stay informed, discuss joint rotary and community concerns, and to coordinate various strategic & tactical efforts among the clubs within DeKalb County.
The Council sponsors an annual breakfast. Each year many RCNA rotarians attend the festive event where there are awards given in recognition of "Service above Self". A "Teacher of the Year" is sponsored by each club and recognized at this meeting, as well as a club rortarian from each club in attendance is selected to receive the William M Mulkey "Show Rotary Cares" Award. This year several of our club members were in attendance when our very own Past President and current ADG "Famous Lou" Averado, Jr was honored and received the "You are the Key" Award from District 6900 Distrit Governor Alicia Michael! The Chamblee Post included this story and a fantastic group photo on it's front page in it's 3/2/15 issue, the story was submitted to the local neighborhood "Reporter" and Neighborhood papers as well as posted on the RCNA Facebook page and individual member Facebook pages.
RCNA's Lou Alvarado received the "You Are the Key Award," and Ralph Sims was nominated as Rotarian of the year.
As a show of commitment to Rotary and the DeKalb Council, RCNA President Jon Yaeger has agreed to serve as the Council President during the 2016-17 Rotary Year.
