All global grant activities are required to align with the goals of an area of focus. For water and sanitation, the
goals are:
1. Provide equitable community access to safe water, improved sanitation, and hygiene
2. Strengthen the ability of communities to develop, fund, and maintain sustainable water and sanitation
systems
3. Support programs that enhance communities’ awareness of the benefits of safe water, improved
sanitation, and hygiene
