President's Message Preserving the PastHave you noticed the landscaping and new LED sign at Roswell High School? The campus looks great. In 1990, Past President Skipper Hoke was instrumental in building the front entrance marque. In was dedicated from Roswell Rotary to the first graduating class. A beautiful marker was placed on the marque. The plaque served us well, but after 31 years needed to be replaced. Thanks to Past President Trummie Patrick who handled arrangements for the new plaque. A special thanks to Richie Rosebush of Lang Signs who generously donated and installed it on behalf of Roswell Rotary. Our legacy continues. This Week's Speaker End Polio Now
Steve Stirling is President and CEO of MAP International. Steve assumed the role in mid 2014 after holding leadership positions in major corporations and non profit organizations including, most recently, Executive Vice-President/Chief Administrative Officer of ChildFund International, a leading international child focused development NGO. Stirling held senior level positions with: Heifer International (EVP of Marketing & Resource Development), Univera Life Sciences (VP of Marketing and Communications), ChildHelp (SVP of Marketing and Resource Development) and for five years, Stirling served as the Vice President of Marketing Operations and Executive Director, Major Donor Fund-raising for World Vision U.S. Stirling earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics at Cornell University and his MBA in Marketing and Finance at Northwestern University (Kellogg Graduate School of Management), during which time he also studied international business in Paris, France. Steve's courageous story, The Crutch of Success, chronicles his early years in a Korean orphanage, his adoption into a large, loving family in Alaska, and his determination to succeed. It can be purchased at map.org/Meet-Steve. Steve and his wife Sook Hee have two grown children.
World Polio Day/ Sat. Oct 24th Pints for Polio - Have one on us!World Polio Day is a time for Rotarians across the globe to raise awareness about our work to eradicate polio for good. If we stay committed to making progress, polio will be the second human disease ever to be eradicated! In support of the cause, for every pint sold throughout the day, Gate City and Variant are donating to End Polio Now. Let's support Michael & Pat by bringing a friend and enjoying a brew at their place. Share that you are a Roswell Rotarian and the first one is on us!
