President | Louise Barden |
President Nominee | David Burr |
Vice President | Matthew Johnson |
Treasurer | Carter Stout |
Secretary | Alison Norris |
Join us this week at Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant for fun and fellowship with the Dunwoody Family of Rotary. Iron Hill is located at 1224 Hammond Drive in Dunwoody. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm.
Iron Hill likes to remind us that "Nothing's More Local than beer brewed 10 feet from you table" and "Nothing's Fresher than every dressing, every stock, every sauce made from scratch. Every day."
Hope to see you there.
If you don't, use your next two days wisely - before you head to Thirsty Thursday, get your gloves and favorite garden tool ready to join your fellow Spruce-tarians on Saturday, August 17 at 9 am - at Bounds Gardens, AKA the traffic island across from the Dunwoody Library! See you there!
Have you heard there's more incentive than ever for bringing in new members. We all know there's incentive to keep growing so we can have a bigger impact! But did you know that if you bring a guest who becomes a member, you will receive a $100 credit on your January club bill. See more about the incentive plan below.
This month’s positives?
The usual message for members…keep bringing guests to our Friday meetings and to Thirsty Thursdays. And back to that incentive: $100 off your bill in January for a guest you bring between now and then who joins the Club. Have two guests who become new members??...$200 credit!! Max incentive is $300 but don't let that stop you.
Growing our Club’s membership
allows us TO DO MORE FOR MORE… "IMPACT” is your payoff for the personal
investment you are making in RCD!
Our president nominee, Dave Burr, has only been in Rotary a short time but he's been involved in nearly everything the club has going. Most recently, he coordinated our efforts with the DeKalb Rotary Council to collect used medical equipment for FODAC, and soon he'll be encouraging our participation in the Club's third annual Whiskey Raffle. And we can look forward to his leadership as our president in 2025-26.
Dave owns a small chain of retail shipping stores, including the Mail Center Etc location in the Mellow Mushroom plaza of Dunwoody. Before buying his first store, Dave was a management and technology consultant and worked in the brokerage, banking, and healthcare fields. He traveled regularly - for client engagements in NYC, Charlotte, and Denver - and vacationing in Colorado, California, and New York.
Dave lived in Florida for half his life and moved to the Atlanta area in 2009 when he went to work for e*Trade. When he first moved here, he'd
planned to join a Rotary club and visited several of them but quickly realized
his travel schedule would limit his attendance and decided he couldn't make the
commitment. After changing careers and hiring more staff to work at his stores,
he had more control of his schedule and approached the Rotary Club of Dunwoody
during a Thirsty Thursday event. He joined the club shortly afterwards. Dave
enjoys our club's excellent speakers, the regular volunteer and fundraising
efforts, and connecting with the local community.
Dave lives with his two dogs downtown Roswell where he regularly visits with them. He recently gutted the master bathroom in his house and is currently renovating it. In his spare time, he manages to run a few races every year, including a 50k trail race last month in Stowe, Vermont.
Editor's Note: Dave is on a mission to help us all get to know each other better by sharing profiles like this. If you'd like to write a profile on someone in the club, please send your article to Jackie Cuthbert at cuthbert@mindspring.com.
We are so excited to welcome Quynn Hoa (first name Hoa) from Vietnam as our GRSP student for the 2025-26 school year! We will be at the Atlanta airport on Tuesday afternoon to greet her and then help her check in at Oglethorpe University, where she will be pursuing her degree over the next four years. The plane is scheduled to land about 1 pm on Tuesday; let Meredith Morris (her Dunwoody host mom for the year) know if you'd like to join the welcoming committee.
Start thinking about spending some time with Hoa - a dinner or lunch, a special activity in our area, etc. And mark your calendar for a welcome party at Meghan's home on Sunday, October 6.
