President Nancy's Message**Thank You to Dr. McLaughlin for an Inspiring Talk on Breast Cancer Awareness** This month, we had the privilege of hearing from Dr. McLaughlin, a leading voice in breast cancer research and care, who shared valuable insights into advancements in treatment and early detection. Dr. McLaughlin’s talk was not only informative but deeply moving, highlighting the importance of support and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our club also took a moment to honor the strength and resilience of breast cancer survivors within our community. We extend our heartfelt respect to all those who have faced this journey, as well as to our fellow Rotarians whose loved ones have been impacted. Your courage serves as a source of hope and inspiration to us all. Together, we continue to stand united, raising awareness and support for those affected by breast cancer. **Get Spooky at Our Halloween Meeting!** Join us for a hauntingly fun meeting as we celebrate Halloween Rotary-style! Members are encouraged to come dressed in their best costumes—whether spooky, funny, or downright creative—as we’ll have a prize for the most impressive one. This is your chance to show off your Halloween spirit, so don’t hold back! Adding to the thrill of the day, we’re excited to welcome our one ghost hunter Jonathan Crooks who will share tales of the *Ghosts of Roswell*! Prepare for a spine-tingling journey through local lore, with stories of ghostly encounters and eerie happenings from our own hometown. We can’t wait to see everyone in costume and enjoy a festive, frightful meeting together. Don’t miss this unforgettable Halloween event! Things That Go Bump in the Night - Jonathan Crooks, Historian & Paranormal Investigator to Speak
Jonathan Crooks – Historian, Historical Reenactor, Paranormal Investigator and Roswell Rotarian Jonathan, a three-year Roswell Rotarian, has been a Historical Reenactor for over 35 years, portraying historical figures from Virginia to Florida and now for 22 years in Georgia. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History from Siena College in Loudonville, New York, Mr. Crooks spent years portraying different historical figures including Theodorick Lee of Virginia, an uncle of Robert E. Lee, Rev. Nathaniel Pratt of Roswell Presbyterian Church, Major James S. Bulloch of Bulloch Hall, Barrington King, and others for the City of Roswell and many of the Roswell Historic homes. Mr.Crooks currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Bulloch. He was head of volunteers at Stone House at Manassas National Battlefield Park where he led historical talks. He is past Vice President of the Roswell Historical Society and has presented many talks on Roswell's history to local groups. All this experience helped him train for work in paranormal investigations. Having this acute historical understanding helps him explain paranormal activity when it occurs. For 17 years, Jonathan has led the Roswell Ghost Tours and has been part of paranormal investigations in Roswell and on Civil War Battlefields.
