Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs meets most Mondays at the Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Suites at 12:15 PM. The lunch program includes club business and also hosts guest speakers - business professionals, elected officials, non-profit leaders and others from the Sandy Springs area.

We’re always looking for ways to make an impact in the community; our club members are actively engaged with senior and youth programs that support leadership development and student scholarship. While our motto and most important feature of Rotary International is “Service Above Self,” we also work together in fellowship as we enjoy great camaraderie. A fabulous and warm-hearted program was conducted this past Monday at the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs: the second Annual Senior Healthcare Professionals Recognition Awards. We met some wonderful and caring healthcare professionals. The event was made even more special by the recipients and administrators who spoke glowingly of their nominees and their work. Thanks to Julia Bernath (Vocational Director), who oversaw the event, Cheryl Lietz who coordinated the details, and Todd Lawrimore who put together the program. Details on the winners below. On December 5, 2016, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs held 2016-17 Senior Adult Healthcare Professional Recognition Awards. Award recipients were nominated by their respective employers and work with senior adults throughout the Sandy Springs/Perimeter area in leading, senior adult health care service enterprises. Benefit for Tennessee Firestorm Relief Effort
January 3, 2017 Georgia Ensemble Theater Fundraising Event

Next Monday, December 19th, please plan to join the District 6900 Tennessee Firestorm Relief Efforts by engaging in a quick fundraiser through the Georgia Ensemble Theater. We have the opportunity to sell tickets to the preview of "Greetings Friend - Your Kind Assistance Is Required" on January 3rd for $10 with $9 of the sale coming back to the club for our Tennessee Firestorm Relief Effort contribution. Rotary Club of Sandy Springs Helps With The Community Assistance Center's "Holiday Gift Program"

Rotary Club of Sandy Springs members spent shopping time this past week buying holiday gifts for the Community Assistance Center's (CAC) annual holiday gift program. Over 1200 children and teenagers will have a great holiday this year. The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs purchased gifts for 30 kids, then an elite team of Sandy Springs Rotarians and family coordinated the gifts to make them ready for wrapping and pickup. It's not too late to contribute towards this year's gifts at ourcac.org.

A cruise is a little different from a regular conference. It is impossible to wait until the last minute to register or reserve a cabin. We are asking that you make your plans to join us and register for the conference and book your cabin.

ROTARY MONTHLY THEME

DECEMBER IS dISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT MONTH. Rotary Clubs around the world will focus on the EFFORTS OF ROTARY WORLDWIDE IN THESE GOALS.

The Rotary Foundation helps make health care available for hundreds of orphans in Uganda.

Rotary's top priority is the eradication of polio, but our members take on far greater responsibilities to fight disease. They set up health camps and training facilities in undeveloped countries and in communities struggling with HIV/AIDS and malaria. They also design and build the infrastructure for doctors, nurses, governments, and partners to reach the one in six people in the world who can't afford to pay for health care.

Disease prevention and treatment takes on many forms, from supporting studies to helping immunize people to improving drinking water and the sanitation infrastructure. The world relies on Rotary to tackle these global challenges, and to set an example for others to follow.
