FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com

President's Message

As we approach the twenty-year anniversary of four coordinated terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda on our nation, it’s hard to believe this much time has passed. But the feelings of that day and the memory of where I was that moment I heard the news are still very clear. Help us memorialize that day and celebrate the heroic effort of our first responders when we host our cookout for the Roswell Police and Fire department at station #4 on Saturday September 11, 2021. Jack Wyche and Dave Young are leading the charge and need your help. Please reach out to them and lend your support.

This last week we heard from our very own Jon-Paul Croom and Dr. Breshears of WellStar about mental hearth and how this issue touches everyone in our community. Roswell Rotary will continue to look for creative ways to partner with WellStar to help those in need suffering from numerous mental health issues.

You won’t want to miss our speaker this week when our very own Past President Steve Stroud gives us an update on all of the great new economic development plans happening in Roswell Georgia!

This week's speaker - Rotarian Steve Stroud of Roswell Inc.

As the economic and business development organization for the City of Roswell, Roswell Inc. serves as a catalyst for a sustainable, innovative, and vibrant local business community. Their vision is for Roswell to be the best city in the region for innovative, community-minded businesses and entrepreneurs. As a 501(c)6 nonprofit, they have worked with the City of Roswell through a public-private partnership since 2012. For small businesses and Fortune 500 corporations alike, Roswell Inc. supports business success within the city through four core service areas: business attraction and recruitment; business retention and expansion; industry support; and business development.

Registration will be at 8:30am and the event will last about 3 hours or until you've collected all the trash you can haul. This is a perfectly suited socially distanced outdoor service opportunity for our club. Additionally it promises to be a lot of fun for a good cause. Our own clean river advocate Dutch Earle is, as usual, organizing our group however will be unable to attend that particular morning. Dutch asks that you contact him early to sign up so we can provide a head count.

Rotary Youth Exchange Recruiting

We’re Back and Need YOUR HELP!

Rotary Youth Exchange is shifting into gear to recruit outbound exchange students for the 2022-2023 school year and to recruit host families for our inbound student for that school year.

Please direct any interested people to Alesia Booth alesiagbooth@att.net. You can also direct people to the Rotary Youth Exchange website: ryese.org. (It helps if interested people know we are in District 6900).

We would love a few good volunteers from our club to help with recruiting and other activities related to Rotary Youth Exchange. You need to be an approved volunteer to interact with the inbound and outbound students – it is a U.S. State Department requirement. Becoming an approved volunteer involves a background check and a short State Department training – ALL ONLINE! Very Easy!! Please let Alesia know if you are interested in helping with this AMAZING program!!
