This Week's Speaker Jon Yaeger, "Wellness Lessons 2021"Join us this Friday to welcome, Past President of the Rotary Club of North Atlanta, as he speaks about Wellness Lessons 2021. You can join in person at LeMeridien or via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419 Jon Yaeger joined the North DeKalb Rotary Club (now the Rotary Club of North Atlanta) in 1994 and served as President in 2014-15. During his term, he received a district grant to build a website for cholera prevention for the Task Force for Global Health, Inc. of Decatur. He received the Sheffield leadership award. [more] Golf Tournament Update Club Launches Our Inaugural Golf TournamentAs you all should know by now, our major find raising event for Rotary Year 2021-2022 will be a golf tournament. The proceeds will go to the Georgia Alzheimer's Association. The tournament is aptly named FORE! The Memories (thank you Anne Glenn). It will be played at St. Marlo Country Club ( https://www.stmarlo.com/) at 7755 St. Marlo Country Club Pkwy, Duluth, Georgia on May 16, 2022.
Bob O'Brien and Co-Chair Charlie Augello have put together a talented team to lead our efforts, but we need the involvement of each and every Club member to make this event a success. There are two ways you can help immediately: - Tell all your golfing friends to Save the Date and plan to join us for the tournament.
- Think about becoming a sponsor of the tournament - or asking someone you know to be a sponsor. There are many sponsor opportunities available - from being the Platinum Sponsor at $10,000 all the way to being a Ghost Sponsor for $100 - the in-betweens include sponsoring a hole, a putting contest, the hats, and much more. Rick Woods is leading the charge on sponsorships, so contact him if you would like to help. And keep watching the weekly bulletin for more information.
Member Profile Bill Thiele
From New Member David Burr: One of my suggested
activities as a new member is to "interview a fellow Rotarian and prepare
a profile for publication in our bulletin.". Here’s what I learned in
talking with Rotarian Bill Thiele.
Bill Thiele has been a member of Rotary since 1995. His
father was the president of a Kiwanis chapter and originally Bill leaned
towards joining that organization, however that chapter eventually closed which
gave him the opportunity to join The Rotary Club of Perrine-Cutler Ridge / Palmetto
Bay in South Florida where he was an active member and served as President in
2011-2012. Bill and his wife later relocated to the Atlanta area and
he joined the Dunwoody chapter in 2014. His favorite volunteer activity with
our club was acting as co-chair for the Dunwoody State of the City.
Bill is the manager of the Ameris Bank location "across
the street from Village Burger". During his free time, Bill is
passionate about restoring cars - he is a Grand National Award Winner from the
Antique Automobile Car Show of America. His current project is restoring a
1969 Pontiac GTO. He has also been a nationally-ranked drag racer with
races in Atlanta, Indianapolis and Gainesville, FL. Club Calendar What's Happening in February, March and a Little BeyondHere's a way to keep up with all that's happening with the Rotary Club of Dunwoody. If you would like to add an event - or add a story to the bulletin, send an email to Jackie Cuthbert at cuthbert@mindspring.com by Tuesday evening.
