Thirsty Thursday
Join Dunwoody Alumni Tomorrow - 4/21 - at Dunwoody Country Club

This month, Dunwoody celebrates our 38th anniversary as a club. In honor of that - and all the great people who have been part of making our amazing history happen - we are having a special Thirsty Thursday next week, April 21, at the Dunwoody Country Club. The club will provide appetizers and beverages!

Be sure to join us at 5:30 pm and in the meantime, reach out to any alumni you know!

Our membership is a critical part of how we do all the things we do in the community so join us to celebrate the past, the present and the future.

This Week's Speaker
Kyle Wingfield, President & CEO, Georgia Public Policy Foundation

Join us this Friday to welcome Kyle Wingfield, President&CEO of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation. You can join us in person at LeMeridien or via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419

Kyle Wingfield is a native of Dalton and graduate of the University of Georgia. He joined the Foundation as president and CEO in April 2018 after spending nine years as an opinion columnist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has also worked for the Wall Street Journal, based in Brussels, Belgium, and for the Associated Press, based in Atlanta and Montgomery, Ala. Kyle’s weekly column continues to appear in newspapers around the state.

Kyle is a graduate of the AEI Leadership Network and Leadership Georgia. He serves as a trustee of the Georgia Press Educational Foundation and is a past member of the University of Georgia’s Board of Visitors. An Eagle Scout, he remains a volunteer in Scouting. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and their two sons.

Golf Tournament Update
The World of Golf Needs You!

Our inaugural RCD golf tournament is fast approaching. Just over three weeks to go until golfers tee off on May 16 at St. Marlo Country Club in support of the Alzheimer's Association of Georgia Longest Day Program and the Rotary Club of Dunwoody Charitable Fund. And the best news - you can still be a part of the action. Here's three ways you can join in the fun!

  1. Be a golfer. We hope to have 76 golfers - go now to our Golfer Registration page for more details and to sign up!
  2. Be a sponsor. There are opportunities from $100 to the $10,000 Platinum sponsor level - including four more hole sponsorships - get more information on the Tournament Sponsor page or by contacting Rick Woods.
  3. Be a volunteer. The opportunities are listed above; contact Jennifer Shumway to sign up for a Volunteer Team before the May 16 tournament. Just email Jennifer at jbowler325@gmail.com with the subject "Add Volunteer - Golf Tournament."

Thanks for all your support so far! With your help, we look to make this a successful event for the Rotary Club of Dunwoody and the Alzheimer's Association of Georgia.

Service Opportunity
Dunwoody Arts Festival Returns May 7-9 ... We Need More Volunteers

Thanks so much to all of you who have already signed up to be part of this signature community event. While artists display their creations, we have a great opportunity to put the Rotary Club of Dunwoody on display - through our support for artist set-up and break-down and our booth on the busy Arts Festival trail through Dunwoody Village.

At this writing, we have:

  • 16 Dunwoody Rotarians for Artist Setup on Friday Night or Saturday morning.
  • 10 Dunwoody Rotarians to help at our Dunwoody Rotary booth
  • 12 Dunwoody High School Interact Students to help with Artist Setup (runners, carriers, etc.)

We still need:

  • 2 or 3 volunteers for Artist Welcome and Setup on Saturday morning 6-9 am.
  • Up to 8 volunteers to help with festival close on Sunday evening 5-8 pm (this is particularly fun - a good time to connect with the artists and hear their experiences in Dunwoody)
  • More Rotarians always welcome at Rotary Exhibit – specify your preferred shift.

To volunteer, contact Kathy Brandt at 404-797-0705 or by email at kgbrandt1@comcast.net
