Spruill Center Launches Arts for Alzheimer's

The Spruill Center for the Arts is pleased to begin Arts for Alzheimer’s, a pilot art education program aimed at increasing the well-being of individuals living with memory loss and their care partners through engagement in the arts. The program is being offered this fall at no charge to participants and is now open for registration.

Each month, teaching artist Amanda Williams will guide participants through an examination of a prominent artist and their works.   Individuals and their care partners will explore a variety of mediums designed to engage and connect them to the monthly class theme and they will create a work of art inspired by that month’s featured artist. In this pilot program, those artists include Henry Ossawa Tanner, Henri Mattise, Hanna Hoch and Claes Oldenburg.

Arts for Alzheimer’s begins September 14 and will be held every 2nd Wednesday through December 14.  Registration is available at https://registration.spruillarts.org/wconnect/ace/CourseStatus.awp?&course=224AFA100

Our Rotary Club is a partner of the Spruill Center for the Arts.

Congratulations!
Cheers to Doing Good Around the World

Congratulations to Past President Carter Stout and the entire club for receiving a Rotary Citation for all we did in the 2021-22 Rotary year. Let's keep it going!

From Dave Burr, Membership Director
Our Club Will Host Chamber Networking Event in October

The Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber sponsors a monthly networking event for their members - the August event was at Fogo Fogo de Chão and the September 20 event will be at Bar Peri[1]. Here's the exciting news: our Club will sponsor the October 11th event at the Spruill Gallery. The Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber will begin promoting the event soon.

I mentioned this event during Friday's meeting. The event is an opportunity for chamber members to meet each other, network, enjoy the food and beverages, visit the Spruill Gallery, and learn about Rotary. Our club will use this opportunity to promote our community involvement and attract new members.

As the club sponsors the event, we have opportunities to promote your business. We want to highlight you as one of the local business leaders involved in the club. Can you promote your business by helping with:

  1. Door prizes - Can you donate a unique gift? We would like 2-3 door prizes that could be an item with your company name on it, a gift certificate to a local restaurant or event, a gift bag of a bottle of wine, etc.
  2. Gift bag items - We will prepare gift bags for each of the 50 attendees. Does your business have a coupon, a coffee mug, a business card, a flyer, or something similar to add to the gift bag?

Please reply directly to Dave Burr if you can provide a door prize or gift bag.

Mark Your Calendars....

Here's a way to keep up with all that's happening with the Rotary Club of Dunwoody. If you would like to add an event - or add a story to the bulletin, send an email to Jackie Cuthbert at cuthbert@mindspring.com by Tuesday evening.
