Friday Meetings No Longer on Zoom - Join Us on Facebook Live

We have moved the Friday meeting online connection from Zoom to Facebook Live. When you can't join in person, join us at https://www.facebook.com/DunwoodyRotary.

This Week's Speaker
Drew Walston, Founder and CEO, Mighty Hero Homes

Join us this Friday to welcome Drew Walston, Founder and CEO of Mighty Hero Homes. You can join us in person at Le Meridien or online at https://www.facebook.com/DunwoodyRotary.

Drew is a man on a mission to eradicate veteran homelessness in the United States. But is such a worthy cause even possible? Drew believes it is. He says he has been blessed to have three and half decades of extensive strategic and executive management experience in his rearview mirror and it is time to give back. "I have come to learn that I make a living based on what I get but I make a life based on what I give." [more]

GRSP Leadership Weekend
You're Invited to Join Us!

Looking for something fun this weekend? Wondering what the Georgia Rotary Student Program is all about? Want to lend a helping hand? Join us this weekend at the North Shalllowford Annex, City of Dunwoody, 4470 N. Shallowford Rd., Atlanta GA 30338 to meet 39 of the 40 amazing students in the GRSP Class of 2022-23. We have hosted the GRSP Leadership Weekend for more than 20 years - it is one of the club's signature projects and consistently one of the students' favorite weekends. We're attaching the full agenda, but here's a sneak peek:

  • It all starts Friday afternoon, with an opportunity to help pack 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger. Ask Hoshi if it was fun to ring the bell every time we passed the 1,000 meal mark. Friday night is pizza, s'mores and music from Jud Shumway.
  • Saturday is about learning - and having fun! Dr. Ryan Maltese will talk students through the Civil Rights movement Saturday morning, and Roswell Rotarian Michael Sutton will lead them in a Courageous Leadership workshop in the afternoon. In between, Atlanta Metro Rotarian Warren Turner will do a little team building with the group. If you're looking for a way to help, Tina Philpot will be happy to have extra volunteers to keep the snack tables ready and to get lunch out.
  • Sunday morning is Shark Tank - led by the Atlanta Rotaract Club. Student teams will compete for a $1,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Dunwoody toward a project in one of The Rotary Foundation's seven areas of focus.

We welcome all Dunwoody Rotarians to stop by - to see what we're doing and lend a helping hand if you'd like.

Golf Tournament Update
Why Your Support is Important ...

There are at least two great reasons to support our May 15, 2023 FORE the Memories Golf Tournament:

  • It supports the work of the Alzheimer's Association. As you can see from the statistics here, Alzheimer's impacts both individuals with the disease and their caregivers. The Alzheimer's Association provides care for Alzheimer's patients and support for caregivers, as well as driving medical research. Our support helps them help more people every day.
  • The tournament also benefits the Rotary Club of Dunwoody Charitable Fund and some of the projects we do to make a difference in the community.

That's why we're asking you to help identify local businesses and individuals who might want to be Tournament Sponsors - because it's good exposure for their business and/or because they want to help in the work we do in the community.

With the help of the Alzheimer's Association, we have created a great sponsor package you can share with everyone who might be interested in becoming a tournament sponsor.  To make that easy, we've added the document to our Resource library - you can click on 2023 Fore the Memories Golf Tournament Sponsor Package to take a look, download to share with friends or businesses, and even take a look at what you might like to do to sponsor this major fund-raising event.

If you have questions about how you can help, contact me, Charlie Augello or Rick Woods.

Dunwoody Alumni News
Congratulations Tim Le!

Friday was a special night for Tim and NDIMAXIM Real Estate. They honored with the Public Service Award by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce at its 75th Annual Gala. Amy and the whole team was there to enjoy the achievement. And earlier in the day, Tim and Amy were at our club to hear our GRSP student Shashwat speak about his family and Nepal. They are co-hosting Shashwat this year, and hosting four students for this weekend's GRSP Leadership weekend! Tim is current a member of the Gwinnett Rotary Club.

Congratulations to amazing people for this well-deserved award.
