FAMILY OF ROTARY
Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com
For at least 32 years Roswell Rotary has honored a player on the Roswell High School football team who exemplified leadership throughout his football career. This award is voted on by his peers - his fellow football players. Originally called the Outstanding Leadership Award, for years we invited the entire football team, coaches, and cheerleaders to join us for lunch to honor the recipient of the award. Before Roswell Rotary began this tradition, the local Jaycees held a yearly banquet for the community to present a similar award.
Longtime member Skipper Hoke was a banker, community leader, and a huge booster of all things Roswell High School and its sports teams. For years he helped lead our Roswell Rotary Relays, often working the scoring table throughout the day. After his death in 2016, we renamed this award after him to honor the impact and dedication Skipper gave to our young people and athletics in our community.
Last year, we expanded our awards to honor leaders from our two other high schools on Woodstock Road - Fellowship Christian and Blessed Trinity Catholic High Schools. This week we welcome the award winners, their families, and coaches to our lunch meeting to receive these honors. Our keynote message will be given by new Georgia Tech Offensive Coordinator Buster Faulkner. Having just been on the staff at the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs for the last three years, Buster was essentially the quarterback coach and instrumental in the success of their star QB Stetson Bennett.
Hope
to see you Thursday as we honor these fine young men.
Buster Faulkner, who boasts 18 years of experience on college football staffs – including 11 as an offensive coordinator – and three national championship rings, is in his first season as the offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech.
Faulkner comes to Tech after winning two national titles in three seasons as an offensive quality control assistant for quarterbacks at Georgia (2020-22). At UGA, he played a significant role in constructing and fielding one of the college football’s top offenses, highlighted by the Bulldogs finishing in the top five nationally both in scoring (41.3 ppg) and total offense (501.1 ypg) in 2022. Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett IV finished fourth in voting for the 2022 Heisman Trophy in Faulkner’s final year on the UGA staff.
Prior to his three-year stint at Georgia, he spent the previous 10 seasons as offensive coordinator at Southern Miss (2019), Arkansas State (2016-18), Middle Tennessee (2011-15*) and Murray State (2010). His 11 seasons as a coordinator also includes a season as OC at Valdosta State in 2008. He also coached quarterbacks at Central Arkansas in 2009, coached QBs at Valdosta State in 2007 and was a graduate assistant at Georgia in 2006.
In all, he has won three national championships, six conference titles and five division crowns at the collegiate level and a state championship at the high school level as a player and coach at Parkview High School.
He and his wife, Tia, have a son, Harrison, and two daughters, Hadley and Haisley.

Roswell Rotary After Hours is thrilled to volunteer at the upcoming Roswell Beer Festival. What better way to get in the RBF spirit than by welcoming STAR House Executive Director Stephanie Christiansen to speak to the club! She will share how her organization serves at-risk children in Roswell, and why the beer festival plays a crucial role in fundraising. See you tonight, Feb. 7, at 6:30 at The Artillery Room @ Gate City!
Service opportunities are beginning to bloom for RRAH!
After Hours is set to volunteer at the Unity Garden at the Chattahoochee Nature Center on three upcoming Saturday's: Feb. 18, March 11 and April 29. The shifts start at 9 a.m. and go until Noon. The plan is to work around the garden doing anything and everything they need, like collecting plants, organizing and planting.
Did you know? The Unity Garden grows fresh produce to be donated to the food pantry at North Fulton Community Charities. Fresh vegetables and greens are delivered once or twice a week.
All Rotarians are invited!

District Conference … is it just a bunch of meetings and listening to speeches? Not if Roswell Rotary has anything to do with it. Arrive on Thursday and make your way to the best Hospitality Suite … Roswell Rotary’s ... where it is always Rockin’!!
With a District Governor who taught agriculture at UGA, what better way to kick it off than with Pig Roast and Cornhole tournament on Thursday evening. Green Acres may be the place to be, but Arnold the Pig will not survive the first night! And after last fall’s Polio Cornhole warmup event, Roswell Rotary is sure to rule!
We are a mighty force for good during the year and an even mightier force for FUN at the conference. We need your fun and creativity and cornhole skills! Make your reservations today!

Roswell Rotary Club is searching for her 3rd host family for LaNeige, our Rotary youth exchange student from Thailand. She needs a host family from March 1-May 31st, 2023. LaNeige is 16 years old and attends Roswell High School. Within the Rotary exchange program, she lives with three host families in the area; she is currently with her second host family. See the video below!
Host families provide the exchange student with a home environment that includes accommodations you'd provide for your own family - an environment to live, engage and study/learn. The family does not have to have a Rotarian, so if you know someone that might be willing to host, we need to hear from you. To learn more about qualifying as a host family, please contact Alesia Booth.
For you, or someone on your staff, grow your business by doing business with Rotarians in an environment that supports “Service Above Self”
