PAST DISTRICT GOVERNORS
FAMILY OF ROTARY
Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com
This week, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom as our Memorial Day committee leads our club meeting with a preview of our Roswell Remembers Memorial Day Ceremony next Monday. Led by Past President Dave Young, we honor our fallen soldiers, sailors, and airmen who fought and died for our freedom. This day is a great reminder that freedom is not free. Many have paid the ultimate price so that we can maintain our many freedoms.
This meeting is unique each year as we have the presentation of the Colors, listen to inspiring music, focus on the price of freedom, and give thanks for the sacrifice others made for our benefit. We will forego the usual announcements, introduction of guests, happy dollars, and our weekly raffle. We hope to see you all this Thursday for this special day.
The 24th Roswell Remembers Memorial Day Ceremony will be held Monday, May 29th at 11:00 A.M. at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street.
A joint effort with the City of Roswell, grounds open at 10:00 A.M. with displays and music provided by Roswell New Horizons Band. The program will include a military ceremony, presentation of colors, the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, POW/MIA tribute and laying of the wreath.
Sunny K. Park, a native of South Korea, is the guest speaker. Mr. Park has served as Commissioner of the White House Advisory Commission, Vice Chairman of Georgia Ports Authority, along with non-profits’ boards including Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation and USO Georgia. He is a 2000 USO Patriot Award Recipient and named as one of the most influential Atlantans. None of this would have been possible without the support of the US Military where he as a young child benefited.
At the conclusion of the program, lunch may be purchased through food trucks, Tres Jardines, Eggroll Boyz, and Patty Wagon located on the grounds.
Contact Past President Dave Young, Committee Chair at nfultonpt@juno.com with questions. This is a great opportunity for ALL Roswell Rotarians to serve those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Roswell Rotary Club and the City of Roswell would like to thank our Hometown Hero Sponsors for their generous contributions to the 2023 Roswell Remembers Memorial Day Ceremony.

Last week, Roswell Rotary After Hours had another fun meeting thanks to guest speaker Rotarian Hal Coleman! The lifelong Roswell resident spoke on what it was like growing up on Canton Street and shared his love of reptiles and critters with the crew. He also told funny stories from his childhood like when he brought a snake to school...you had to be there!
After Hours will welcome Courtney Rodebaugh, Chief Programming Officer for LeadAbroad, to speak on Identifying Your Core Values at the June 6th meeting. Courtney develops and operates all logistics for LeadAbroad programs around the world, with their main focus currently in Europe, Central America and South Africa. She is also responsible for recruitment, training and management of their international staff, vendor relations, LeadAbroad curriculum, risk management and new program development.
Courtney is a UGA graduate, mother of three, and sister to RRAH member, Ashley Doran. LeadAbroad is an innovative, purpose-driven organization focused on leading transformative experiences at home and abroad, serving students from 70+ universities. Learn more at www.leadabroad.com
