PRESIDENT ALEX'S MESSAGE
Fellow Rotarians: I hope that everyone enjoyed Tomer’s
presentation last week as much as I did. Thank you to Kurt Hilbert for
arranging such a unique speaker. I encourage everyone to think about other
great speakers and to provide their information to Alicia so that we can
continue to have the best of the best visit us and keep our meetings
interesting. This week we are having an all-out Blitz
for our Golf/Tennis/Pickle Ball Tournament. Please make sure we have as many
sponsors, players, and volunteers as possible. This is our Club’s signature
fundraising event and makes our charitable impact possible. We are all members
of the Golf/Tennis/Pickle Committee. Thank you to Bob Clarkson for his
leadership! This Thursday will be the introduction of our buffet lunch experience.
Please be patient as we work together on the logistics. The plan for Thursday
is that our plates will be at the buffet and all other items will be set at
your table to make it easy for everyone.
Program This Week: Golf & Tennis Tournament Pep Rally
Our Golf & Tennis Tournament is not only our only fundraiser BUT also a great day of fun and fellowship for the entire Roswell community. Cheryl Greenway and Bob Hagan will open the meeting with some tournament history and evolution. Bob Clarkson, 2023 Golf Chair, will interview both the Roswell Fire and Police Chiefs about the importance of honoring Sept 11, 2001 with the new First Responders Championship Trophy. Bragging Rights are on the line.

Fellow Rotarians - We are coming down to the final day of signing up Donors and blood supplies are critically low. Let's put on the final push and put Service above Self! It sure was inspirational seeing our friend Hal Coleman on video last week. Hal will be the first to tell you that he's glad there are people out there giving blood routinely cause that's what saved his life. Please honor Hal by donating blood or contacting friends and family members that are able to give. It was an exciting week for Roswell Rotary After Hours! The club welcomed mental health advocate Zack Houston as their guest speaker for their meeting. He spoke on his new organization, A Friend in Me, and how RRAH can support its mission of leading better and more intentional conversations around mental health. At the meeting, members brought in school supplies as part of a drive benefiting the Children's Development Academy. RRAH member Lindsay Davies dropped off the donations and the CDA was thrilled for the support during a busy back-to-school season.
The club also officially welcomed a new member, Bill Brooks! Bill is a staff accountant at Brady Ware and has already made a large impact on the club in his short time with them. The next RRAH meeting is Tuesday, September 5th--same time, same place! Rotary Youth Exchange

First Responders Cookout Sept. 16
The fourth annual 9-11 First Responders Cookout will be held Saturday, September 16th, 2023, between 3 pm and 8 pm at Roswell Fire Station #24, 1400 Old Alabama Road, Roswell, 30076. Volunteers are needed starting at 1:00 PM.
During the September 11, 2001, attacks, 2,977 people were killed and more than 6,000 others were injured. Of the 2,977 fatalities, 2,753 were killed in the World Trade Center and surrounding area, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 in Pennsylvania. These deaths included 265 on the four planes. The attacks remain the deadliest terrorist act in world history. Rivers Alive Roswell Clean Up Project
Rivers Alive, Georgia’s annual river cleanup, comes to Roswell on September 16. The event, co-hosted by Keep Roswell Beautiful and the City of Roswell, is part of a statewide campaign to preserve Georgia’s 70,100 miles of rivers and streams. Small groups of volunteers will be dispersed across the city to perform beautification projects, including litter pick-ups, invasive plant and shrub removal, mulching, native plant planting, and storm drain marking. This year, cleanup sites will include Riverside Park, Dotsie Garner Mills Park, Old Roswell Cemetery, Bulloch Hall, and more.
