Sleep in a little this Friday. Then we look forward to seeing you at our Holiday Luncheon this Friday, December 1 at the Dunwoody Country Club. Arrive between 11 and 11:30 AM with the welcome to start at 11:30! And don't forget that we're collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots at the luncheon - to help spread some holiday joy this year to children and families in our community.
This year, we are reviving a tradition started 20 years ago (interrupted by COVID) with the Dresden Elementary School chorus joining us to provide some beautiful entertainment. While the RSVP list is closed, contact Matthew Johnson if you have questions about whether you're on the list!
Dunwoody Rotarians were busy this week with two projects that have become tradition - supplying 86 harvest baskets for needy families at Kingsley Elementary School, and labeling and gifting books to about 900 students at Kingsley and Dresden Elementary School.
In addition to the funding we provided, several Dunwoody Rotarians were actively involved in these projects. For the Harvests Baskets, that included transporting basket supplies from Costco to Kingsley, helping sort those supplies, lining up to buy turkeys at Publix, and helping carry very heavy baskets to recipient cars. And last Saturday afternoon, we gathered at Carter Stout's office to put bookplates in each of the 900 books and load up two vehicles to take the books to the schools.
Thanks to all who participated, and especially to the two very special Honorary Rotarians pictured here - Anita Augello who coordinated both the Harvest Basket and Book projects, and Roy Ethridge who started our involvement in the book project at Dresden more than 20 years ago.
Rumor has it that Meredith Morris has her eye on the Whiskey Raffle #3 prize - this beautiful designer bottle of Blanton’s Original Single Barrel. Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, this single barrel bourbon was once designated for ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton’s family and friends. Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon. You can click here to buy your Raffle #3 tickets for $30 each and give Meredith a little more competition.
We seem to be stuck at 56 ticketholders in the hunt for this bottle; join them now! Or pass the info along to your friends and family!
Some of us are going to the Imperial. Fez at 8 pm for a Moroccan feast and belly dancing. The location is in Berkeley Lake at 4790 Peachtree Industrial. You can check out the restaurant at www.imperialfezrestaurant.com
