President Alex's Message
Fellow
Rotarians - Happy
Thanksgiving to you and your families! I hope that everyone has the opportunity
to pause and give thanks as well as celebrate with their loved ones. As a
reminder, we do not have a Rotary Meeting this Thursday. But as always with
Roswell Rotary, just because we do not have a formal meeting, that does not mean our
Club is not busy working to do good. In fact, this past weekend through
Tuesday, November 21st, our Club’s Basketball Tournament is in full swing to
raise money for our Veteran Initiatives. Please contact Lynne Lyndsay if you
can volunteer and thank you for those who have or have already signed
up. I am excited to hand out the trophy this Tuesday! This
Friday, November 24th marks the opening of our Christkindl Market at Bulloch
Hall! All Rotarians are invited to attend the Grand Opening at 5pm. In fact, WE
NEED YOUR HELP! This is also your opportunity to be in a TV commercial to show
off our Christkindl Market which helps raise money for Roswell Rotary and Friends
of Bulloch. So all of you that are looking to make your big break in the
entertainment industry, please come! The
commercial will be shot at 5 pm on the 24th and includes the
traditional Tapping of the Keg - the Mayor, Bob, Marcel, and I will do it
together thanks to a special beer keg courtesy of Michael Curling and Variant.
We are encouraging everyone to please come and bring friends and family so we
have a full house and backdrop. Our friends at Safe America Foundation are
shooting the commercial and assisting to promote the Christmas Market - including on social
media, YouTube, Hulu, and other outlets. Additionally, Saturday
morning, November 25th, the City is shooting their TV and internet
commercial for the Market. Both spots are slated to be 30-second commercials
when finished. It
is important to spread the word about the Christkindl Market as early as
possible throughout your networks as this is a major fundraising initiative for
our Club and we hope that it will become a holiday tradition for years to come
and we can grow on a great foundation. So everyone, please spread the news and
encourage your friends, family, neighbors, and congregations to please attend
between November 24 and December 24th. Additionally, there will be Santa on
multiple days, so you can not only find out who has been naughty or nice, but
you can also have your children’s photos taken with him and skip the awkward
mall lines. We
will reconvene our Thursday lunch meeting on November 30th with the Czech
Republic’s Honorary Counsel, Monika Vintrlikova. She is a personal friend, delegate,
and international business woman in the auto manufacturing industry. I am
excited to hear her message! Happy Thanksgiving!
- Alex
Thanksgiving Day- No meeting No Meeting this Week
The gym will be empty. There will be no food in the kitchen, no tables filled with your RRC friends, and no cars in the parking lot. So if you show up, you will be hungry and alone. but there are two good reasons! Hoping you will be with friends and family that day enjoying Thanksgiving YUM and will look forward to seeing you next week! Volunteers Needed Christkindlmarket Gift Shop Volunteers
Calling Rotarians to Volunteer... and Shop!!
The holidays are fast approaching and Roswell Rotary is getting ready. As a partner in the Christkindlmarket coming to Roswell Nov. 24-Dec 24, Roswell Rotarians are needed to work the check out desk in the Bulloch Hall Gift Shoppe right next door to Bulloch Hall. Feel free to pass along to your spouse/partner/friend that you think might be interested. We ask that you sign up for a minimum of 2 shifts between Nov. 24th and Dec. 24th. There will be a training session in November to learn how to use the Square system and check out a customer at the shop. It’s easy! It’s fun! It’s a great way to get involved. Partner up with a friend as 2 people are needed per shift. Click the link to sign up for your shifts. Remember this is a major project/fundraiser this year and we need you! The meeting spot is TBD, so check back for updates. Everyone is invited! North Fulton Charity- Toyland Drive
Bring a smile to a child’s face this holiday season by donating toys and gift cards. Toyland Shop provides toys and gifts to local children in need at the holidays. At NFCC’s Toyland Shop, unwrapped, donated toys are arranged so parents can pick out their child’s holiday gifts. Last year, the program served more than 1300 children in our community! The Toyland Shop Toy Drive is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children from ages 0-18. Please do not forget to keep our teenage clients in your hearts this year. We often see less toys donated for this age group. The most popular items for teens continues to be gift cards. We are requesting gift cards in increments of $35 from major retailers such as Target, Walmart and Amazon.
Please bring an unwrapped toy or gift card to Rotary on December 7th. Meet us under the Tent! Holiday Party December 8 at ChristkindlMarket

We Adopted a Platoon! Grant Allen
40 Boxes were packed for Lori Allen's son, Grant and his Platoon, currently serving in South Korea. Specific items collected and sent included bath robes, restaurant gift cards, drink mixes, and protein powder - all the goodness from home you can fit in one box! This is the message sent from Lori, currently recovering in the hospital where she had knee replacement surgery: "Thank you all for supporting our troops and my son's platoon!
I was overwhelmed with how much thoughtfulness, kindness and true “Service
Above Self” was shown during the collecting and packing of the items for the
boxes! From the bottom of my heart, thank you! I will share the notes from
Grant and his soldiers as I get them!"
