FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is NAME and all news should be directed to her at EMAIL ADDRESS

Congratulations!

Congratulations to our President, Rick Perry who was the recipient of the Governor’s Citation Award at District Conference, an honor only awarded to 26 of 72 clubs in our district.  This award recognizes our hard work, community engagement, and the positive impact we make, embodying the true spirt of Rotary.  Let’s celebrate this amazing achievement

together and continue making a difference.

Celebrating National Arbor Day

Henry county Rotary celebrated Arbor Day in partnership with Girl Scouts and the UGA Extension of Henry County.  Did you know trees provide social, communal, environmental, and economic benefits?  Tim Daly from the UGA Extension shared his knowledge and experience with us to help us learn more about trees including the best kinds to grow based on where we live, how and when to plant trees, as well as how to care for them.  Renfroe Valley Tree Farm kindly donated 55 trees to give to each of our participants to take home and plant.  We encourage you to plant a tree and improve the air around you.  Happy planting!

Pickleball for Charity

Henry County Rotary in partnership with Henry County Parks and Recreation held a Pickleball Tournament at Richard Craig Tennis Park.

We are so grateful for the participants that made this possible, the perfect weather and the support from our sponsors.   A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit A Friend’s House, Inc. which serves to both house and home youth in crisis.  There were approximately 14 teams who participated in this first time pickleball tournament for Henry County.  This allowed us to bring awareness to the County regarding the popularity of Pickleball in our community and highlight the need to resurface a few tennis courts as potential pickleball courts at Richard Craig Tennis Park.  Lot’s of fun and fellowship were had by all who attended and we look forward to hosting another tournament in the future.

Clothing Drive for Blessing's Thrift Store to benefit Haven House

Our Spring Clothing drive was a huge success.  Both Rotarians and the Community really showed up in support of our drive with many car loads FULL of donations.  The manager of Blessings Thrift Store, Lyndsi Brown was thrilled to have a few Rotarians come by the store to volunteer for a few hours, accept donations and tell us more about Haven House which serves survivors of domestic violence.  Proceeds from Blessings Thrift Store go to benefit Haven House in some way, either by allowing individuals to shop for free when they first arrive at Haven House for the first time or by helping them to furnish or stock a new place to live when they are ready.  Even clothes that are unfit to sell to the public are taken out to a Tractor Trailer in which they will donate for other causes and get paid via a portion of the weight of the truck.  They use every last resource to support the non-profit organization which helps so many people during their deepest times of need.
