Roswell Rotary Blood Drive at Coastal Bar & Grill - July 17th
Why do we so urgently require blood
donations? The story your about to read doesn’t just tell you
why, it also demonstrates the love and ultimate selflessness of one of our own: In 2020, Senator & Rotarian John Albers faced a
devastating challenge when his son, Will, was diagnosed with kidney failure.
The diagnosis came as a shock, and the path forward seemed daunting. The family
was thrust into a world of medical appointments, treatments, and waiting lists,
all while grappling with the fear of losing their beloved son. Despite their
relentless search, finding a compatible kidney match for Will proved incredibly
difficult, leading to months of emotional and physical turmoil. Amidst this uncertainty, Senator Albers demonstrated the ultimate act
of selflessness and courage. Determined to save his son's life, Senator Albers
underwent extensive testing and was found to be a perfect match. On July 21,
2021, at Emory Hospital, he donated his kidney to Will, giving him the ultimate
gift—a new lease on life. This act of profound love and sacrifice is a
testament to the lengths a parent will go to for their child. This is a very emotional and uplifting story about a father and a
son. We all know the sacrifices that had to be made, not unlike the
sacrifices that are made each
and every day when precious blood is needed
to support similar lifesaving efforts. Every day, hundreds of people in our
community find themselves desperately needing blood. The pint you donate just
may be the gift of life that person needs. Please take a few minutes out of
your day, or your neighbors, family members or your work associates to offer
the gift of life to another person by donating a pint a blood. When you
do that, you feel good about yourself, and you get a "Pint for a
Pint".
