Wednesday, July 17 Coffee & ConversationsMorgan Bailey will host the club's first Coffee & Conversations on Wednesday (tomorrow) at Grassroots Coffee from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. You asked; we answered! Members have asked for more casual networking opportunities at different times in a less structured environment. Thank you, Morgan, for initiating and agreeing to host these get-togethers. There's no program; coffee and snacks are not included. Feel free to bring friends and potential members. Questions? Contact Morgan Bailey.
Thursday, July 18 Service Project to Support the HomelessThe regularly scheduled meeting at Second Harvest Food Bank and Saturday Produce Market have been canceled. Instead, Rotarians will meet at the Plaza for a service project for the homeless. President-elect Nate Tyler, also a board member for Fountain of Life Rescue, will give a brief update about the homeless population in Thomasville before we work on care packages for the homeless. The schedule will follow the regular weekly meeting schedule at the Plaza: - 11:45 a.m.: Lunch begins
- 12:15 p.m.: Meeting begins
- 12:25 p.m.: Comments from Nate, followed by care package service project
- 1:15 p.m.: Meeting adjourned
Thursday, July 25 Blood DriveThe OneBlood Blood Mobile will be onsite at the Plaza on Thursday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All donors will receive a $20 gift card, a tote bag and a wellness checkup, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol screening. Thursday, July 25 Savannah Taylor: Miss Thomasville 2024Miss Thomasville 2024 Savannah Taylor will discuss her platform from the recent 2024 Miss Georgia pageant: Just Breathe, which details the mental health issues our country faces and addresses suicide prevention. She also will discuss her experiences at this year's Miss Georgia pageant and share how her participation in the Miss America organization has positively impacted her life and mental health.This is an updated program for Thursday's meeting. Thursday, Aug. 1 Gwen Tyler: Crime Victims Bill of RightsGwen Tyler, victims and witness advocate for the Thomasville District Attorney's office, will provide an update on the Georgia Crime Victims Bill of Rights. Gwen has been an advocate in the community for the past 18 years, nationally certified for 10 years. She actively supports the Thomasville/Thomas County Homeless Coalition, Treehouse Advocacy Center and Halcyon Home for Battered Women. She is also a member of the Child Abuse Council, the Sexual Assault Response Team, and the Multidisciplinary Team. She actively educates the community about services provided by the Victim-Witness Assistance Program throughout the year, including the National Crime Victims' Rights Week ceremony in April and the Domestic Violence Awareness program, in conjunction with Halcyon Home, in October. Thursday, Aug. 8 Andrea Collins: Workforce Development Plan UpdateAndrea Collins, executive director of the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce, will discuss the Workforce Development Plan, a comprehensive strategy to enhance the region's labor force and economic vitality. This plan leverages local resources, educational institutions, and workforce development programs to attract and retain talent, foster skill development, and promote job growth.
