A Visit from Henry County Police Chief, Mike Ireland

Thank you to Police Chief Mike Ireland for spending time with our club yesterday.  It was an honor to host you as our guest speaker.  The Henry County Police department has certainly grown over the years and continues to do so as our county grows.  Chief Ireland expressed his appreciation for commanding a department that promotes from within and awards based on performance, allowing all voices to be heard.  Chief Ireland is especially proud of what all the men and woman are doing there and spoke on the successes around body cameras and the scrutiny that goes into screening and hiring of new cadets.    The department offers extensive training as an investment in new hires even prior to the Academy, helping to ensure the best of the best are serving our community.  Thank you for your leadership and for working every day to make Henry County safe.

A Visit from Judge Holly Veal

Thank you to Judge Holly Veal for speaking with our club during Monday’s luncheon.
Serving as a Civil & Criminal Judge with Henry County Superior Court, Judge Veal is widely known for her honesty, fairness, and sound judgment. The insights she shared about the court system and especially Drug Court were eye opening.  To hear that since 2018 the court is experiencing an “avalanche” of Mental Heath cases is disheartening but there is hope for restorative defendants due to programs that work to treat the Trauma that caused the behavior or the addiction.  Judge Veal is passionate about this work and says it is a good investment and use of tax payer money.  This work often helps reunite families, rehabilitates and restores defendants to productive citizens.  Thank you Judge Veal for the passion you have for your job and for the work you do to improve our community..
